OVERSEAS COUPLES / FIANCE SPOUSE
VISA
Couples who are travelling in Australia for whatever reason may also be married in this country, but notice of at least one month must be given to the chosen Celebrant.
This
form must be witnessed either by an Australian Consular Official or
Diplomatic Officer or by a Notary Public. Only these people can
witness an overseas notice.
You can
lodge this document either by post or faxed in time to reach the
Celebrant at least one month before the date of your
ceremony. Before the ceremony, the couple will also be
required to show the celebrant a copy of their birth certificates
or passports. If either party has been married before,
evidence must also be produced of the termination of that
marriage.
There are many wonderful locations at which to conduct marriage ceremonies in Australia, including a range of outdoor locations. Your celebrant is bound to have some appropriate suggestions, and may also be able to assist you in making other arrangements for your ceremony.
No
rights to remain in Australia are conferred by marriage in
Australia, even if that marriage is to an Australian citizen. For
enquiries regarding immigration, please contact the Australian
Consular Office in your home country.
Do you have a Partner Immigrating to Australia? Do you require a
Fiance Visa Letter?
Please contact me should you require a letter from a Marriage Celebrant advising the Immigration Department of your intended marriage in Australia.
This is
known as the "Fiance Visa Letter" which I will do for you once you
have lodged the Notice of Intended Marriage (Form 13).

Marriage Certificates
After the ceremony, the bride and groom and their witnesses will sign three sets of documents. One will be a Register that is retained by the Celebrant.
There
is the Marriage Certificate that is lodged with the Office of
Births, Deaths and Marriages, and finally there is the Certificate
that is given to the couple of their record of the
event.
After
their wedding is registered (at the office of Births, Deaths and
Marriages in the state in which the ceremony occurs) an application
can be made to that office for a copy of their official Marriage
Certificate.
Check out this awesome photo – deserves an award! Fireworks, lightning, sunset, a comet, and the greatest of Aussie icons, the beach all in one image. In addition to the obvious features in the photo, look between the two displays of lighting up the sky to see the third – McNaught’s Comet. The photo was taken just north of Hillarys Marina in Perth WA - you can see the harbour wall on the left with fireworks being launched. The photograph was taken by a 17 year old Finnish guy by the name of Antti Kemppainen on 26th January 2007, Australia Day.
